A team of young people from Malawi and Scotland who are currently participating in the 2019 Leadership Development and International Community Building Camp visited YONECO Head Office in Zomba on 16 July, 2019.
The team had a leadership development session which was facilitated by the Executive Director for YONECO – MacBain Mkandawire, Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Documentation Manager – Daniel Chikatentha as well as Programmes Support Manager – Eunice Kutsata Banda.
During the session, the young visitors were given a chance to discuss various social development and youth empowerment issues.
The team further toured YONECO ICT Centre, Tithandizane Helpline Service Centre as well as YONECO Radio Station (YFM). In all these sections, the youth were being mentored in leadership skills and the role of young people in the development of their communities.
In his remarks, MacBain Mkandawire stated that youth development has always been YONECO’s niche and the visit gave the institution an opportunity to expose the young visitors to various enrichment opportunities which can enable them to serve their communities.
The Leadership Development and International Community Building Camp is being piloted under the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). Camp The initiative is being spearhead by the Rotary Club of Limbe and its partner from Scotland.
